LIFE & FAMILY// SOMETHING I NEVER DARE TO SAY TO MY MOTHER

Baby Wen & Her Mother (Age 3 month & 27)

Everyone knows, it is a universally acknowledged truth that, one day, eventually, no matter how hard we try to fight against... we will all gradually turn into our parents, one way or another... What a dreadful thought.

The dread is not really 'turning into my parents', but the fact that I try to fight against it. Why do I not want to turn into my parents, most particularly, why do I not want to become like my mother? My mother is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most dedicated loving mother on earth. For as long as I can remember, all I know is just how much she loves us and cares for us, always giving us the best she can give, saving us the most precious. So, why do I not want to become like her?
My mother and I are very close. She gave me all the best, and she wants nothing but the best for me. However, what she thinks is the best, may not necessarily be the best for me from my point of view. By not doing what she wanted me to do, and going against her will, it resulted in countless arguments and tensions between us. My mother, being so dedicated and loving, she always let me win. She lets me do what I want to do. But I know she is disappointed, and she never hides her disappointment from me either. I am sure all of you (being someone's daughter and someone's son, especially those of you, like me, grew up under oriental traditions and Chinese family values) will understand this struggle. This is why I said, I don't want to become like my mother, with all the possible guilt you can imagine. I hope I could be a mother who gives her daughter the love that she needs and feels no pressure. (But is that really? Is that really the reason?) To be honest, it has so little to do with what my future daughter would feel. I guess the real reason why I don't want to turn into my mum is that I don't want to feel upset because the children don't live up to my expectation. I want to be a mother when the children do something I disapprove, I won't be so disappointed as my mother feels right now... Or, perhaps, what I really, truly want to say is, I hope I didn't disappoint you (at least not) too much, mum.

LIFE - 2015 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION...STARTS TOMORROW

What I love the most about new year is a brand new start, how exciting! And to have a true new start, one must make some good new year's resolutions.

Last year, I was geared towards finishing my study, so my 2014 New Year's Resolution was WORK HARD AND BE IN LOVE. I think I did quite well.. for both.

And this year, as I have finished my study, it is about time for me to begin exploring the world of getting a proper job and starting earning money. The first task I must learn is how to manage a budget and save, not just spend and buy loads of stuff I don't need! The reason I said in the post title that it will start tomorrow (5th Jan) because tomorrow is a Monday, the first Working day of the new year. Also, today I did a little naughty look see in Zara today (oops! I didn't plan to, but.. well, long story) and got myself a very nice slightly over-sized blazer....

so, my new year's resolution shall all begin by Tomorrow :) I am actually a little nervous about it, because I am crap at saving... I will try though, try my best!

What is your resolution for 2015? I want to know

FASHION - ZARA - WHEN DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE OBSESSED?

When do you know that you have become obsessed with something? Yesterday I had that moment.

For some reason my train just got seriously delayed. Instead of waiting at the railway station and scrolling down my phone, I decided to pop into the shops next door, and I went straight into ZARA.

I was being really good, I tried on several items, but I only picked out two, the t-shirt I am wearing in the photo and the grey-ish pencil skirt. Love them, love the combo.

After I paid for those and went out of the shop, I got stopped by the security door. After a few minutes of checking, it was not the new clothes I bought. The sales lady said, it could be my bag (it was also from ZARA that I bought a few months ago) and it wasn't properly de-magnetised (if that is a word), or it could be my shoes (also from ZARA), and she looked at me again, saying, well, or your coat...(also from ZARA)... They couldn't figure out which or what exactly triggered the alarm because basically I was full of ZARA on my body...

Yes, ZARA is definitely my favourite shop in the world!

What is yours?!

Fashion/Dress for Work

Dress for work

I started working as an intern this week and realised I had to update/upgrade my wardrobe. Little Black Dress can never go wrong!

And Thanks for my sweet friend Debbie, finally I have found a nice laptop bag from Waterkant that I can take to work.

I love the tweed fabric design and the leather patch. Easy to grip and goes very well with formal outfits. For those days I am back to the Uni, I also use it for carrying my A4 size documents and notepads. Fit perfectly!

Beauty// No.7 Eye Primer

No.7 Eye Primer// An Alternative Corrector?

I find that the best way to hide the under eye dark circle is to use corrector. I love Bobbi Brown. This slightly salmon-y bisque colour totally conceals and corrects the dark circle for me. If you have not tried it, I urge you to give it a go. It works like magic.

Recently I have discovered a cheaper alternative and I am so excited about it. Not only is it cheaper, easier to get hold of, and it works so well that I might even prefer it! No.7 Eye Primer Ta-dah!

Well, strictly speaking it is not a corrector, because it is actually an eye primer that should be used on the eye lid. I have to say I was pretty disappointed with it when I tried it as a primer. I have bought it a while ago, tried it a couple of times and never really used it again. However, lately I started to use it as a corrector and it amazes me! It is very creamy and sets very well under the eye. The slightly pink colour cancels the dark circle, and with the concealer on top, looks perfect!

Here are some photos of swatches..

One thing must keep in mind that, No.7 eye primer only comes in one colour and luckily it suits me (I am using bobbi brown peach bisque) if you have paler complexion, this might not be the right one for you! :(

And here are the photos of me wearing the No.7 as corrector (Excuse me for slightly crossed eyes!)

And here is the photo of me wearing one eye No.7 and one eye bobbi brown (and on top I use Revlon colorstay concealer). Bet you cannot tell the difference! :)

I am so chuffed that I have found a use for something I thought it would never work for me! Hope this is also helpful for you! Don't forget to comment or tweet me @wentalkstoshoes about what you think! Thank you!

Fashion// New Year Begins with Shopping

Story of Mine: & Other Stories

Last night, after my boyfriend left my place... I did a little naughty online shopping!

Ever since & other stories came to London and opened its first store at the Regent Street, I wanted to go and have a look. Finally in the early December (of last year) while I stayed in London I had the chance!

The decoration of the shop is very simple but all the items are so well displaced. It is very easy to browse. I was so impressed with their shoe section! I especially like the mirrors in the fitting room (see the photos to the right!) How cool is that! I didn't have enough time to check out their beauty section..what a shame! (If you have, please let me know how their beauty products are like.)

The clothes are so stylish. I tried so many of them and really loved the design. However, I was a little disappointed with the sizes. It seems even the smallest size (34) is still a bit too big/long for me..sad!!!

Their accessories, shoes, handbags, and lingerie (which I have no problem with the sizes) are really what I love about & other stories. When I visited the shop I bought a ring and some lingerie, and last night I tumbled across their website and found out the sale! Couldn't resist! And here are the things I picked up...

1. Leather Ankle Boots in Silver Grey £95 £48

I am definitely ankle boots kinda girl. I have so many black ankle boots but they all have got a little bit heels. I need an easy walking everyday pair and I think this pair is perfect. The heels look quite comfortable, and they are 100% leather. I love the silvery grey colour, I think it is a great alternative to black. Hope it can add a little bit of sparkle to my winter look!

2. Embroidered soft bra £19 £10 and mesh briefs £12 £6

I have always liked soft bras with no padded cup (and & other stories have so many of them). I find them very feminine, sexy, and at the same time very comfortable. I love this dark green colour, I think it will make my skin looks great, and I also love the embroidered detail on the bra, very sexy!

3. Leather clutch in Grey £45 £23

To my surprise I don't own a clutch bag! I have been searching for one for a little while now. I was not sure if I should get a shinning and sparkly one (which seems more night time appropriate) or a simple plain one which I could use during the day as well. I chose latter, because I guess I would get more use out of it!

I am pretty happy with my choices (I just ordered them yesterday, still waiting for them to arrive, but I am excited already). What do you think? Do you like what I bought?

If you also like & other stories, please do tweet me @wentalkstoshoes and let me know. If you have not yet heard of it, please go visit their store or website, hope you will find something you like!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Beauty// My Christmas Party Make Up

All the Glitters and Red Lipstick

Are you also planning which little dress and what sort of make up look you are going to wear for the Christmas parties? I am! (It may just be another excuse of doing more shopping haha!)  I went to Superdrug the other day and picked up some really festive make up products and thought they would be great for the Christmas party season! So here we go!

The look I am going for this year is the Bold and Matte Red Lips. However, I am not going to keep my eyes make up simple. It is Christmas after all. I use a grey eyeshadow pencil as a primer for the first layer, and on top I use the Glitter eye liner to draw not just a line but all over my eye lid. Sparkles! (For this eye make up, I didn't use any brushes, just with my fingers) I think this will suit all types of outfits, dress, fur, or leather pants, anything!

Here are the products I used for this look and swatches:

Collection Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencil (Gunmetal Glitz) and Glam Crystals Dazzeling Gel Eyeliner (Hustle)

I quite like this grey colour eyeshadow pencil. I love the colour. It is so easy to use and I find it very long lasting. The Glam crystals eye liner is so gorgeous. I especially love this colour because it is not just silvery.. it also has blue, gold, and all different kind of sparkles in it. So pretty! Like a disco ball!

Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream (Rioja Red)

Red is definitely my choice of Party lips! You can't go wrong with a classic red lip. Recently I fell in love with matte lipsticks. The sleek matte me is such a beautiful lip product. (MAC Ruby Woo is another favourite of mine!) Sleek matte me is so matte and seems to really stay put! I can't wait for the party to come! I really want to try it!

Hope you like my Christmas party make up look. What look are you going for this Christmas? Leave me a comment below or tweet me @wentalkstoshoes

Have a Happy Christmas!
